Snyder to read from his book on Thursday, March 25

Milton L. Snyder, who was born in Weippe and attended Lewis-Clark State College, will read and sign his new book "Maybe Milton Should Go Work in the Woods" on March 25 at the LCSC Center for Arts & History, located at 721 7th Ave. in Lewiston.

The evening begins with a wine and cheese reception at 6 p.m., followed by Snyder's presentation at 6:30 p.m. The event, which is sponsored by the LCSC Alumni Association and LCSC Foundation, is free and open to the public.

Snyder currently is retired and living in Bellingham, Wash., after serving as an educator for a number of years.

In his book, Snyder chronicles his early life on the farm and woods in the Weippe area and relays stories about his relatives, who migrated to Idaho from West Virginia. He also talks about the impact education had on his life. The book contains genealogy charts, photos, and family historical documents.

Snyder was born in 1929 and later moved to Lewiston after the death of his father. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1947 and attended LCSC, then known as North Idaho College of Education, where he earned his degree in 1951.

After serving in the Korean War, Snyder earned a Master's in Education at the University of Washington in 1959 and a Ph.D. in Leadership and Human Behavior from United State International University (now Alliant International University) in San Diego in 1973.

Snyder worked as a teacher and principal in Richland and Sunnyside, and was superintendent of schools in Anacortes, Marysville, and Federal Way School Districts in Washington. He also was Deputy Superintendent of Schools in Oakland, Calif., and Division Superintendent for Prince Williams County Schools in Manassas, Va.

Snyder also served as Deputy Executive Director for the American Association of School Administrators in Arlington, Va. He continues to work for several educational technology firms.

Woods will have his 347-page book on sale for $49.95 during the evening.
